woe is me (but in a good way)

I've started a new HIIT program that is quite viciously kicking my beeheinie. I never even knew I had some of these muscles!!! Currently I'm doing 12 sessions of full-out running for 20 seconds, then walking for 40 seconds, back and forth. Running has never really been my thing, but I'm trying to change that. Maybe next time I'll run like Phoebe just for the fun of it.

Am I doing the HIIT right? I'm sprinting for 30 at 7.0 mph then jogging for 30 at 5.8 mph. Let me know what you think! :-)

Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

ooooh I am so glad you are giving it a try! I will point you to this thread at Oxygen mag, where they really get into the meat of it.

I'm doing a 20/40 split (per the forum, instead of the 30/30 suggested in the article, because I'm a dork). If I'm not outside (at which point I have no idea how fast I'm running), I try to hit 9.0 mph on Ye Olde Tready and then dangerously hop onto the sides and do a little silly marching because I'm too winded (right now anyway) to continue jogging. My treadmill takes a while to gear up and down, anyway.

From what I've gathered on the forum, we're to run like absolute maniacs, I mean really sprint at total top speed, just as fast as we can, and then take it down to the jog. If 7.0 does that for you, then I would presume (again, based on what I've read), that that is what you should be doing.

Yay I'm so glad you're joining in the HIIT fun/pain! And you want to be a PD too . . . Me love! Yay!!! :)

Thanks for the heads up -- I do a lot of jogging (training for a half marathon in January)... but I am feeling it today on the back of my legs!! :-) I'm going to go for it again in my workout tonight!
